Sakada is a poet and writer, speaker, coach and teacher. Her poetry book, Into A Long Curl, was released in October 2011.
- In her coaching and teaching, her specialty is helping people who have always wanted to write, but do not know how to get started. In most cases, people have been taught a very narrow approach to writing: Get an idea and write it down. There is so much more to writing and the writing process! By opening up your process, Sakada will help you to uncover your writing voice and creative flow. Sakada also knows that when people have a creative process with which to access their stories and ideas, they will be empowered. Further, when they can share these stories and ideas with the world, they contribute in a real and valuable way. Writing is a fruitful path for anyone and Sakada’s secret mission is to get everyone writing! She is also the author of Write Your Book! Establish Your Expertise & Market Your Business, which will be launched in February 2012. She developed the Write Your Book program to help entrepreneurs and business people establish and share their expertise and passion with the world – while also promoting their business! Sakada has been teaching writing since 2000, when she graduated with her MFA in Creative Writing/Poetry from Antioch University. Her B.A. from the University of Michigan is in Journalism. Her teaching experience ranges from skid row workshops to university classrooms. As a full-time faculty member, she taught both undergraduate and graduate courses. Sakada currently runs GeniusWork Writing, where she coaches private clients and facilitates workshops, classes, and events. She is available for readings and as a speaker.
